OLIVEIRA DE AZEMÉIS, Portugal (Interstat) — Maritimo opened its Segunda Liga campaign with a 2-0 road victory over UD Oliveirense on Monday. Carlos Daniel scored the decisive goal in the 17th minute at Estádio Carlos Osório, giving the visitors an early lead they would not relinquish. Maritimo added a second-half goal to secure the win. The result defied a pregame projection from Interstat, whose simulator had forecast a 1-1 draw. Maritimo begins the season with a win, while Oliveirense starts with a loss.
