VIZELA, Portugal (Interstat) — FC Penafiel opened its Segunda Liga season with a stunning 3-1 comeback victory over Vizela on Sunday, defying pregame projections. Interstat’s models heavily favored the home side, giving Vizela a 73.5% probability to win and projecting a 1-0 scoreline in its favor. The match turned after halftime, however, with Simão leveling the score in the 51st minute. Ítalo Machado and Davo then scored to secure the win for the visitors before Claudio Silva netted a consolation goal for Vizela in stoppage time. The loss at Estádio do Vizela sends the home team to an 0-1 start in the Portuguese second division.
