Huracan Upsets Defensa y Justicia in Argentine Primera Nacional Opener
BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (Interstat) — Huracan opened its Primera Nacional season with a commanding 3-1 road victory over Defensa y Justicia on Monday, defying pregame projections that heavily favored the home side.
Substitutes fueled the win for Huracan at Estadio Norberto Tito Tomaghello. Luciano Giménez opened the scoring in the 19th minute, followed by a goal from midfielder Abiel Osorio before halftime. Substitute Leandro Lescano added a third in the 72nd. Defensa y Justicia’s lone reply came from Matko Miljevic in the 82nd. The home side’s chances were hurt when Alexis Soto was sent off with a red card in the 53rd minute. The result was an upset, as statistical models gave Defensa y Justicia an 86% probability to win.
