BUENOS AIRES (Interstat) — Almagro opened its Primera Nacional season with a 1-0 upset victory over Dep Riestra on Friday at Estadio Pedro Bidegaín. Forward Alexis Cuello scored the game’s only goal in the 51st minute, converting after a buildup that involved Jhohan Romaña. The result defied projections, as statistical models heavily favored Dep Riestra to win. The match was a physical affair, with eight yellow cards issued by the referee. Almagro begins the campaign with a win, while Dep Riestra starts with a loss.
