PAKSE, Laos (Interstat) — Champasak Avenir FC opened its Lao League season with a 3-2 victory over Namtha United on Sunday at Champasak Stadium.

The match defied a pregame projection of a 2-0 win for the home side. Ketsada Souksavanh opened the scoring for Champasak in the 82nd minute, only for Namtha’s Souksavanh Hopchakkavan to equalize with a header seven minutes later. Anung Douangvixay then delivered the decisive goal in the third minute of stoppage time, securing the win for Champasak Avenir FC.

The result gave Champasak a winning start to both its league campaign and overall season, while Namtha United began with a loss in all competitions.
