PORT MORESBY, Papua New Guinea (Interstat) — Hekari United FC, a dominant force in the National Soccer League, is heavily favored to extend its winning form against a struggling Kula FC side on Saturday.

The matchup at Port Moresby’s National Football Stadium pits the league’s top teams at opposite ends of the table. Hekari United enters the contest with a record of 7-3-3, while Kula FC sits at 4-10-2.

Hekari is coming off a 2-1 victory over Admiralty Island on Wednesday, continuing a strong run. The club has lost only once in its last five matches.

Kula FC, however, snapped a four-game winless streak with a surprising 2-0 win over Lae City Dwellers on Tuesday. Despite the recent boost, the team faces a daunting challenge.

The last meeting between the clubs was a lopsided affair, with Hekari United routing Kula FC 4-0 on Aug. 8. Statistical models predict a similar outcome. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 3-0 victory for Hekari, and its ELO rating system gives the home side a 77.90 percent probability to win.

Hekari’s potent attack, which has scored three or more goals in four matches this season, will test a Kula FC defense that has conceded four goals in a game on three separate occasions. Kula will look to build on the confidence from its shutout victory earlier this week to pull off a major upset.
