Santiago de Cuba vs Guantanamo

HAVANA (Interstat) — Eastern Cuban rivals Santiago de Cuba and Guantanamo will meet Friday in a Primera Division match at Estadio Antonio Maceo.

The match, scheduled for Oct. 24, 2025, pits a home side seeking consistency against a visiting team defined by its propensity for draws.

Santiago de Cuba enters the contest with a record of 1-1-3 in the Primera Division this season, identical to its record across all competitions. Guantanamo sits at 1-0-4 in both league and overall play. Five of Guantanamo’s nine total matches this season have ended in a draw.

Recent history heavily favors the visitors. Guantanamo is undefeated in its last four matches against Santiago de Cuba, winning three and drawing one. The most recent meeting on May 24, 2025, resulted in a 1-0 victory for Guantanamo. In their last trip to Santiago de Cuba on May 3, Guantanamo secured a decisive 4-0 win.

Guantanamo is coming off a 1-1 draw with Villa Clara on Wednesday. Santiago de Cuba last played on July 9, earning a wild 8-7 victory over Ciego de Ávila.

Projections for the match are conflicting. Interstat’s ELO system gives Santiago de Cuba a 70.80 percent probability to win. However, the organization’s game simulator predicts a 1-1 draw.

Kickoff is set for Friday evening in Santiago de Cuba.
