TAMPINES, Singapore (Interstat) — Tampines Rovers crushed Young Lions 8-1 on Friday in a Singapore Premier League match at Tampines Stadium. The hosts scored seven times in the first half. Trent Buhagiar opened in the fourth minute. Irfan Najeeb added a goal in the 23rd, Shah Shahiran struck in the 28th, Sérgio Mendonça in the 31st and Kohya Kazama in the 33rd. Shahiran netted his second in the 78th minute. Glenn Kweh made it 7-0 in the 80th, and Ong Yu En scored in the 88th. Hide Higashikawa pulled one back for Young Lions in sixth-minute stoppage time. Young Lions fell to 1-15-2 this season; Tampines improved to 13-1-3. The teams had met twice previously this season, with Tampines winning 5-0 on March 8 and 7-1 on Jan. 16.
