MONTEVIDEO, Uruguay (Interstat) — Danubio opened its Primera División season with a 2-1 upset victory over Racing on Sunday at Parque Osvaldo Roberto. The result defied projections that heavily favored the home side. Sergio Núñez put the visitors ahead in the 20th minute, and Esteban Da Silva doubled Danubio’s lead in the 34th. Racing’s Michael López scored a stoppage-time goal in the 90+4th minute, but it was too late to prevent the loss. Interstat’s game simulator had projected a draw, and its ELO system gave Racing an 85 percent probability to win. Danubio begins the campaign at 1-0-0, while Racing starts 0-0-1.
