SANTIAGO, Chile (Interstat) — Two Chilean clubs mired at the bottom of the Primera División table will seek a rare victory Friday when Deportes Iquique hosts La Serena.

The Halloween matchup at Estadio Tierra de Campeones finds both teams struggling through difficult seasons. In league play, La Serena sits 14th in the 16-team table with a 7-16-7 record. Deportes Iquique is just below them in 15th place with a 5-20-4 record.

The visitors from La Serena carry a slight edge in form, coming off a 2-1 home victory over Audax Italiano last Saturday. They have also had the recent measure of Iquique, winning both of their head-to-head meetings this past May by identical 2-1 scores.

Deportes Iquique, however, earned a hard-fought point in a 1-1 draw on the road against Huachipato last weekend, showing a resilience that has been scarce during a campaign with only nine wins across all competitions.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, the most likely outcome is a 1-1 draw, a result that would offer little relief for either side in their fight to climb the standings. The match will be the final fixture for both clubs before an international break. La Serena next hosts Universidad Católica on Nov. 8, while Deportes Iquique travels to face Unión La Calera on Nov. 7.
