SALAVANH, Laos (Interstat) — A first-half corner kick goal from Reiya Matsuda gave Salavan United a 1-0 victory over Lao Army in Lao League play Sunday at Salavan Province Kilana Stadium.

Matsuda scored directly from the corner in the 30th minute, providing the only offense in the match. The result defied a pregame projection from Interstat, which had forecast a 1-1 draw and heavily favored Salavan United to win.

The win improves Salavan United’s league record to four wins, five losses and four draws. Lao Army, which was shut out for the second time in three matches, falls to eight wins, six losses and three draws. Both teams’ overall season records mirror their league standings.
