VIENTIANE, Laos (Interstat) — Master 7 and Young Elephant opened their Lao League campaigns with a 1-1 draw Sunday at Stadium, KM16.

Young Elephant, which had been projected by statistical models as a heavy favorite to win, instead settled for a share of the points. Master 7’s Jung Hyunwook opened the scoring with a headed goal in just the second minute. The visiting Young Elephant side found an equalizer later in the match to split the result.

The outcome left both clubs with identical records to start the season: no wins, no losses and one draw across all competitions. The final score matched the pregame projection from Interstat’s simulator, defying its ELO system’s prediction of a Young Elephant victory.
