AP's Bomet FC vs Sofapaka
BOMET, Kenya (Interstat) — AP’s Bomet FC looks to build on a resounding victory when it hosts Sofapaka on Sunday in a Kenyan FKF Premier League matchup that pits a team in form against a club mired in a prolonged scoring drought.
The home side enters the April 26 fixture at Bomet Stadium coming off a 3-0 win at Posta Rangers FC on April 19. That result snapped a two-match winless stretch for AP’s Bomet, which had drawn 0-0 with Mara Sugar and 1-1 with Bidco United.
Sofapaka arrives in the opposite direction. The visitors have not scored a goal in their last 11 matches across all competitions, a streak dating to a 2-1 loss at Homeboyz on March 2. Since then, Sofapaka has managed four scoreless draws — most recently a 0-0 tie at Tusker FC on April 18 — and six losses by a combined 16-0 margin. Among the defeats: 3-0 to Gor Mahia FC, 2-0 to Ulinzi Stars FC and 2-0 to Police.
The offensive struggles have left Sofapaka near the bottom of the league standings, while AP’s Bomet has shown flashes of competitiveness despite an inconsistent season. The home side’s results include a 1-0 win at Ulinzi Stars on April 4, a 2-1 victory at Nairobi United on Feb. 4 and a 3-3 draw with Shabana. But AP’s Bomet also has suffered defeats to Gor Mahia (2-1) and Police (2-0).
The most recent head-to-head meeting ended in a 0-0 draw Nov. 29, the third consecutive stalemate between the sides. Overall, the teams have been tightly matched in recent encounters.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a 1-1 draw Sunday, a result that would extend Sofapaka’s winless run but provide a rare goal for the struggling side. For AP’s Bomet, a victory would mark consecutive wins for the first time since early February.
Following Sunday’s match, AP’s Bomet travels to Bandari FC on May 2, while Sofapaka hosts Kenya Commercial Bank FC on May 3.
