Preview: Posta Rangers FC vs. Kariobangi Sharks

NAIROBI, Kenya (Interstat) — Two sides seeking momentum will meet Saturday when Posta Rangers FC hosts Kariobangi Sharks in a Kenyan FKF Premier League fixture.

The match at Nairobi’s Ruaraka Grounds pits a struggling Posta Rangers side against a Sharks team looking to rebound from a heavy defeat.

The visiting Sharks (3-6-5) are coming off a 4-1 home loss to league leaders Gor Mahia on Tuesday. That result snapped a brief three-match unbeaten run in the league. Their form has been inconsistent, with just one win in their last seven matches across all competitions. Their only victory in that stretch was a 1-0 result against Bidco United on Dec. 18.

Despite recent struggles, statistical models give the visitors a slight edge. The Interstat ELO system projects Kariobangi Sharks with a 54.20% probability to win. However, the same service’s game simulator predicts a 1-1 draw.

Posta Rangers (2-7-5) has not played since a 3-0 defeat at Ulinzi Stars on Dec. 22. That extended their winless streak to five matches, during which they have scored only once. Their last victory was a 1-0 result at Bidco United on Dec. 1. Defensive solidity has been an issue, with clean sheets in just two of their 14 league matches this season.

Historically, matches between these mid-table sides have been tight. They will meet again in the reverse fixture on March 12.

Following Saturday’s game, Posta Rangers will host Kenya Commercial Bank FC on Jan. 15. Kariobangi Sharks’ next match is at home against Homeboyz on Jan. 17.
