NAIROBI, Kenya (Interstat) — A pair of Kenyan Premier League sides seeking momentum will meet Friday when Sofapaka hosts Kariobangi Sharks at a venue to be announced.

The match comes amid challenging stretches for both clubs. Sofapaka (3-4-6) has lost three consecutive matches, most recently a 1-0 defeat at Mathare United on Wednesday. Their attack has stalled, failing to score in their last three outings.

Kariobangi Sharks (2-6-5) snapped a four-match winless run with a 1-0 home victory over Bidco United on Thursday. Despite the win, they have struggled for goals, netting just four times in their last nine league matches.

Statistical projections present a conflicted outlook. Interstat’s ELO rating system gives Sofapaka a 58.80 percent probability to win. However, the same service’s game simulator predicts a 1-1 draw.

Historically, the Sharks have found goals hard to come for in this fixture. Their last three league matches against Sofapaka have ended in 1-0 victories for Sofapaka.

Following Friday’s contest, Sofapaka will next host Bidco United on Jan. 10. Kariobangi Sharks will resume their season on the same day with a trip to face Posta Rangers FC.
