Ruggell vs USV Eschen/Mauren
RUGGELL, Liechtenstein (Interstat) — A high-stakes rematch awaits in the quarterfinals of the Liechtenstein Cup on Wednesday as FC Ruggell hosts USV Eschen/Mauren.
The fixture is a swift return to the scene of a lopsided defeat for Ruggell. On Aug. 13, Eschen/Mauren delivered a stunning 7-1 victory here. That result remains a significant outlier in both teams’ Cup records this season. Ruggell enters the match with a stronger 3-2 tournament record, while Eschen/Mauren sits at 1-1.
Current form, however, presents a mixed picture. Ruggell is looking to rebound from a 3-1 home loss to Triesen in their last outing on Sept. 18. Prior to that, they showed potency with consecutive 4-1 wins over Schaan.
Eschen/Mauren is coming off a scoreless draw against SV Schaffhausen on Sept. 10. Their form has been inconsistent, with a 5-1 loss to Vaduz III and a 3-3 draw with Saint Gallen II following their explosive win over Ruggell in August. Across all competitions, Eschen/Mauren holds a record of 1-1-2.
The Interstat game simulator projects a high-scoring draw, predicting a 3-3 final score. The match will be the final test for Eschen/Mauren before their next Cup fixture against FC Balzers on Nov. 5.
