CHERNIHIV, Ukraine (Interstat) — Andrii Novikov’s 39th-minute goal Saturday secured a 1-0 victory for Chernihiv over Ternopilsky PFC Nyva in a Persha Liga match at Chernihiv Arena.

The decisive strike gave the hosts a measure of revenge after a 2-0 loss in the reverse fixture last September. The result defied a pregame statistical projection that favored Chernihiv but forecast a draw.

The win moves Chernihiv to 5-10-7 in league play, while Nyva falls to 5-9-7. Both clubs remain in the lower half of the Ukrainian first division table. Chernihiv next plays at Pod Khmelnytskyi on April 18, while Nyva hosts FK Livyi Bereh the same day.
