Super Nova Upsets Liepaja in Dominant 1. Liga Victory
RIGA, Latvia (Interstat) — Super Nova opened its 1. Liga season with a commanding 3-0 victory over favored Liepaja on Sunday at Stadions Arkādija Grass. The home side defied pregame projections, which heavily favored Liepaja, with a decisive performance.
Dmytro Sula opened the scoring in the 42nd minute, followed just five minutes later by a goal from Artyom Marchuk. Kristers Čudars added a second-half goal to seal the win. Liepaja, which was given a 65 percent probability to win by one statistical system, failed to score. The loss marks a disappointing start to the league campaign for Liepaja.
