JOHANNESBURG (Interstat) — Marumo Gallants and Stellenbosch will seek their first win of the Black Label Cup campaign when they meet Wednesday in a South African club fixture.

The match at a yet-to-be-specified venue pits a home side in Gallants (0-0-0 in Black Label Cup) against a Stellenbosch (0-0-1) squad that has dominated the recent head-to-head series. Stellenbosch has won the last three meetings between the clubs, all by a 1-0 scoreline, including a victory at Gallants on Aug. 26.

Form across all competitions this season favors the visitors. Stellenbosch holds a 22-15-14 overall record, significantly outperforming Gallants’ 11-16-12 mark. However, both teams are coming off scoreless draws in their most recent outings. Stellenbosch drew Kaizer Chiefs 0-0 on Oct. 5, while Gallants held powerhouse Mamelodi Sundowns to a 0-0 draw on Oct. 4.

Gallants will look to build on the momentum from their resilient result against Sundowns to finally break their scoring duck against Stellenbosch. The home side has shown an ability to secure results, with draws in five of their last six matches across all competitions.

Stellenbosch, despite its superior overall record, has struggled for goals lately, failing to score in four of its last five matches. Its lone goal in that stretch was the 1-0 win over Gallants in August.
