LISBOA, Portugal (Interstat) — Sporting CP defeated Marinhense 3-0 on Saturday in the Taça de Portugal at Estádio José Alvalade. Francisco Trincão scored twice in the first half, finding the net in the 29th and 38th minutes to give the hosts a commanding lead. The victory advances Sporting CP in the domestic cup competition. The result was a reversal of the pre-game projection from Interstat, whose simulator had predicted a 1-0 upset victory for the lower-division Marinhense side.
