Sagadam vs Altyn Asyr
TURKMENBASHY, Balkan (Interstat) — Altyn Asyr edged Sagadam 2-1 on the road Thursday night in a Ýokary Liga match, avenging a prior loss to its domestic rival this season and solidifying its position near the top of the Turkmenistan football league.
The match, played at the Şagadam Stadiony in Turkmenbashy, saw the visitors strike twice in the first half before holding off a second-half rally from the home side. The result moved Altyn Asyr to 17 wins, 8 losses and 6 draws in Ýokary Liga play this season, while Sagadam fell to 13 wins, 10 losses and 3 draws.
Altyn Asyr opened the scoring in the 23rd minute when forward Musa Nurnazarow found the net. The visitors doubled their advantage just before halftime, with Myrat Annaýew scoring in the 43rd minute to give his team a commanding 2-0 lead at the break.
Sagadam responded quickly after the restart. In the 49th minute, Selim Nurmyradow scored to cut the deficit to 2-1 and inject energy into the home squad. Despite increased pressure from Sagadam in the second half, the Altyn Asyr defense managed to preserve the narrow lead, securing three critical points in the league campaign.
The victory provided a measure of payback for Altyn Asyr, which had suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Sagadam in the reverse fixture on June 14. The two other most recent meetings between the clubs, on Sept. 18 and April 12, had ended in draws.
The outcome aligned with pre-match projections from Interstat, whose game simulator had predicted a 2-1 win for Altyn Asyr. The organization’s ELO rating system had also given Altyn Asyr a 72.10 percent probability of victory.
Altyn Asyr entered the contest looking to rebound from a 2-0 loss to FK Arkadag on Dec. 7, which had snapped a two-game winning streak. Sagadam, meanwhile, arrived having lost its last two league matches, both by 1-0 scores against Ahal.
Both teams return to Ýokary Liga action on Dec. 18. Altyn Asyr will host Merw, while Sagadam will be at home against Koepetdag Asgabat.
