Preview: Nebitci Hosts Koepetdag Asgabat in Critical Ýokary Liga Clash

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan (Interstat) — A fierce local rivalry will be renewed Thursday when Nebitci hosts Koepetdag Asgabat in a Ýokary Liga match with both teams seeking to rebound from heavy defeats.

The match, scheduled for Dec. 11, 2025, pits two Ashgabat-based clubs whose recent meetings have been defined by high scores and stalemates. Their last two head-to-head encounters, both on Sept. 18, 2025, ended in wild 3-3 draws. However, Nebitci holds a recent edge, winning three of the past five matchups, including a 2-1 victory on Sept. 13, 2025.

Both sides enter on the heels of significant losses. Nebitci (8-7-5) was routed 3-0 by league leader Ahal on Dec. 7. That followed a 3-0 loss to powerhouse Altyn Asyr on Dec. 4, halting a modest unbeaten run.

Koepetdag Asgabat (4-8-8) is in a deeper slump, coming off a 3-0 home loss to FK Arkadag on Dec. 4. Their form has been poor, with five losses in their last six league matches, including defeats by a combined 8-1 margin against Altyn Asyr and Ahal in late November.

Historically, this derby has been competitive. The season series has seen two 3-3 draws and a narrow 2-1 Nebitci road win in their last three meetings, suggesting another close contest is likely.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, the projection favors the home side, predicting a 2-1 victory for Nebitci.

The match carries weight for mid-table positioning. A win for Nebitci could solidify its standing ahead of a tough Dec. 18 fixture at FK Arkadag. For struggling Koepetdag, a positive result is urgent before hosting Sagadam on the same date.
