ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan (Interstat) — Ahal FC hosts rival Sagadam in a Ýokary Liga match on Monday, looking to build on a recent victory over the same opponent.

The match at Ahal’s home stadium is a quick rematch of a contest from last Wednesday, which Ahal won 1-0 on Sagadam’s home pitch. The result continued a trend of tight matches between the clubs. In their last four meetings, Ahal holds a slight edge with one win and three draws, including two 1-1 stalemates in May.

Ahal enters the contest in strong domestic form, having lost just once in its last five league matches. That run includes a 4-1 rout of Köpetdag Aşgabat and a 3-3 draw with powerhouse Altyn Asyr.

Sagadam’s form has been more inconsistent. While the team secured wins over Merw and Aşgabat in October, it is coming off consecutive losses, including a 2-0 defeat to FK Arkadag prior to the narrow loss to Ahal.
