ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan (Interstat) — Two of the Ýokary Liga’s struggling sides will meet Saturday when Asgabat hosts crosstown rival Koepetdag Asgabat.

Both clubs are mired near the bottom of the Turkmenistan top-flight standings. Asgabat enters the match with an 8-18-5 record across all competitions, while Koepetdag Asgabat sits at 3-18-6.

The recent form, however, favors the hosts. Asgabat is coming off a 2-1 home victory over Merw on Oct. 30. Koepetdag, meanwhile, is reeling from a 4-1 defeat to Ahal on Oct. 29 and is winless in its last five matches.

Recent head-to-head history also points to an advantage for Asgabat. The clubs have met twice already this season, with Asgabat securing 1-0 victories in both fixtures on Aug. 19. Their last encounter at this venue ended with the same scoreline in Asgabat’s favor.

According to the Interstat game simulator, the most likely outcome for this derby is a 1-1 draw. A stalemate would be a rare positive result for Koepetdag in a difficult season.

The match is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025.
