ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan (Interstat) — Two of the Ýokary Liga’s most struggling sides will meet Thursday when FC Asgabat hosts FC Merw in a Turkmenistan top-flight match.

The matchup at Asgabat’s home ground pits two teams mired at the bottom of the table. Asgabat enters the contest with a league record of 7-18-5, while Merw sits with a dismal 2-19-7 record across all competitions this season, identical to its league mark.

Recent form offers little separation. Asgabat is coming off a 2-1 loss to Sagadam on Sunday. Merw, meanwhile, earned a rare positive result in a 2-2 draw with Köpetdag Asgabat, also on Sunday.

The head-to-head history, however, provides a clear edge for the hosts. The two teams have met twice already in August, with Asgabat securing 2-1 victories in both fixtures, one at home and one on the road. Their most recent encounter before that saw Merw triumph 2-0 last May.

Both clubs have found goals hard to come by and victories even scarcer throughout the 2025 campaign. Interstat’s game simulator projects a low-scoring 1-1 draw, a result that would see Merw earn a rare point on the road but do little to improve either team’s standing.

The game is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 30, 2025.
