Juventus Edges Roma in Serie A Opener Behind Conceição’s Spark
TORINO, Italy (Interstat) — Juventus opened its Serie A season with a 2-1 comeback victory over AS Roma at Allianz Stadium on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2025.
Roma’s Francisco Conceição opened the scoring in the 44th minute, but Juventus responded after halftime. Loïs Openda equalized in the 70th minute, assisted by Conceição. Substitute Tommaso Baldanzi then netted the winner for Juventus just five minutes later, completing the turnaround.
The result defied a pregame projection of a draw from Interstat, which had heavily favored Juventus to win. The match featured six yellow cards, with Juventus’s Matìas Soulé and Roma’s Conceição booked in the first half.
With the win, Juventus begins its league campaign 1-0, while Roma starts 0-1.
