MANTA, Ecuador (Interstat) — Two sides mired near the bottom of the Ecuadorian Liga Pro table will meet Sunday when Manta FC hosts Mushuc Runa in a clash of struggling clubs.

The matchup at the Estadio Jocay features two teams with nearly identical and disappointing league records. Manta sits at 6-15-8, while Mushuc Runa is just one point ahead at 7-15-8. Both teams are coming off losses in their most recent outings; Manta fell 2-0 to C.S. Vintaz, while Mushuc Runa played to a scoreless draw with Técnico Universitario.

The head-to-head history between the clubs this season offers a mixed bag. Their most recent encounter on Oct. 25 ended in a 1-1 draw. However, Mushuc Runa secured a 2-0 home victory over Manta on Aug. 30, and Manta took the first meeting of the year 2-1 on May 10.

Form has been elusive for both squads. Manta has managed just one win in its last five matches across all competitions. Mushuc Runa has only two victories in its last ten Liga Pro fixtures, though one of those was against Manta.
