CAIRO (Interstat) — Zamalek SC began its Egyptian Premier League season with a 2-0 win over Petrojet on Wednesday at Cairo International Stadium.

Defender Hossam Abdelmegeed orchestrated the victory, assisting Oday Dabbagh’s opening goal in the 21st minute before scoring one himself in the second half. Substitute Ahmed Bahbah provided the helper on Abdelmegeed’s goal. Goalkeeper Mohamed Sobhy preserved the clean sheet for the hosts.

The result outperformed a Interstat projection that favored Zamalek with a 79.6% win probability and a predicted 1-0 scoreline. Petrojet’s challenge was hampered by yellow cards shown to Bahbah, Abdelmegeed and Sobhy.

Zamalek starts the league campaign at 1-0, while Petrojet begins 0-1.
