Wadi Degla SC rallies with three first-half goals to defeat Ghazl El Mahalla SC in Egyptian Premier League.
CAIRO (Interstat) — Wadi Degla SC opened its Egyptian Premier League season with a 3-2 comeback victory over Ghazl El Mahalla SC on Thursday at Al Salam Stadium.
The visitors stunned the home crowd when Jimmy Emmanuel Mwanga scored just 60 seconds after kickoff. Wadi Degla responded with three goals before halftime. Defender Saïf Touka leveled the match in the eighth minute, and forward Ali Hussein put the hosts ahead in the 20th. Midfielder Mohamed Abdelrahim, who finished with a goal and an assist, extended the lead in the 26th.
Ghazl El Mahalla’s Abdelrahim Amoory scored just before halftime to create the final margin. The result defied a pregame projection from Interstat that favored Wadi Degla to win but predicted a shutout for the visitors.
