EL GUNEH, Egypt (Interstat) — Ojo Samuel’s 51st-minute goal gave El Gouna a 1-0 victory over El Masry SC on Tuesday in the Egyptian Premier League season opener for both clubs at As-Suways Stadium.

The forward finished a play assisted by Omar El Gazar to break a scoreless deadlock. The match saw simultaneous yellow cards issued to El Gazar and Mohamed Makhlouf in the 42nd minute. El Masry finished with 10 men after Nabil Kouki received a red card in stoppage time.

The result defied a pregame projection of a draw by Interstat, which gave the hosts a 73% probability to win. El Gouna begins its campaign with a win, while El Masry starts with a loss.
