NISOU, Cyprus (Interstat) — Apollon delivered a dominant 5-1 victory over MEAP Nisou in the Cypriot Cup on Wednesday, defying pregame projections. The visitors scored early and often at N. Papas Group Ammochostos-Epistrofi, with Morgan Brown opening the scoring in the eighth minute. Lazar Markovic, Pieris Papouis, Pedro Marques and Clinton Duodu also found the net for Apollon, which built a 4-0 lead by halftime. The lopsided result was unexpected, as statistical models had heavily favored the home team to win. Apollon begins its cup campaign with a win, while MEAP Nisou starts with a loss.
