BEIJING (Interstat) — Beijing Guoan opened its Chinese Super League season with a dominant 5-1 victory over Meizhou Hakka at Workers’ Stadium on Saturday. Forward Fábio Abreu was unstoppable, scoring four goals to power the home side. He opened the scoring in the 18th minute and completed a first-half brace in stoppage time. After the break, Zhang Yuning and Elías Már Ómarsson added goals before Abreu scored twice more to seal the lopsided win. The result exceeded a pregame projection that heavily favored Beijing Guoan, which began its campaign with a win while Meizhou Hakka started with a loss.
