Shanghai Haigang Dominates Zhejiang in CSL Season Opener
SHANGHAI (Interstat) — Shanghai Haigang opened its Chinese Super League season with a commanding 3-0 victory over Zhejiang Zhiye on Friday at SAIC Motor Pudong Arena. The result defied a pregame projection that gave the visitors a slight edge to win.
Substitute Liu Haofan opened the scoring in the 12th minute. Defender Wang Shenchao doubled the lead in the 50th, and midfielder Mateus Vital sealed the win in the 72nd. Forward Lyu Wenjun recorded two assists for the hosts. Lyu also received a yellow card in the 78th minute.
Both teams opened their CSL campaigns, moving to 0-0 records in the competition. The lopsided win came despite Interstat’s ELO system giving Zhejiang a 54 percent probability to win.
