SHANGHAI (Interstat) — Shanghai Shenhua and Dalian Yingbo FC played to a 2-2 draw in the Chinese Super League on Sunday at Shanghai Stadium, a result that defied heavy pregame projections favoring the hosts.

Substitute Lu Zhuoyi opened the scoring for Dalian in the 25th minute, but Shanghai Shenhua responded with two rapid-fire goals before halftime. Liu Zhurun, another substitute, equalized in the 39th minute, followed by midfielder Wu Xi giving Shenhua the lead just four minutes later.

The match grew increasingly heated in the final minutes, culminating in a red card shown to Dalian’s Zhu Pengyu in second-half stoppage time. Despite the numerical advantage, Shenhua could not find a winner. The result leaves both teams with a draw to start their CSL campaigns.
