SAN JOSÉ, Costa Rica (Interstat) — Brian Rubio’s 31st-minute goal was the difference as Herediano defeated Sporting FC 1-0 on Friday in a Costa Rican Primera División match at Estadio Ernesto Rohrmoser Lahmann. The visiting side secured the road victory, defying a pregame projection that had favored them to win but had forecast a 1-1 draw. The result gives Herediano its sixth league win, improving its record to 6-8-5. Sporting FC, the home side, failed to score and falls to 3-7-6 in the domestic competition.
