Palestino vs Everton

SANTIAGO, Chile (Interstat) — A Chilean Primera División clash with contrasting fortunes sees a surging Palestino host a struggling Everton on Friday.

Palestino (13-7-5) enters the match sitting comfortably in the upper tier of the league table, while Everton (9-12-10) finds itself mired in the bottom half. The home side holds a significant edge in recent form and in the season series, having defeated Everton 2-1 in their last meeting on May 3.

Everton arrives reeling from a 3-0 home defeat to Universidad Catolica on Oct. 19, part of a difficult stretch that has seen the Viña del Mar club win just one of its last five league matches.

Conversely, Palestino is looking to rebound after a tight 2-1 loss to rival Universidad de Chile on Oct. 13. Prior to that, the team had shown strong form, including a pair of 2-1 victories over Union La Calera.

Statistical projections for the match are divided. Interstat’s ELO system heavily favors Palestino, giving them a 67% probability to win. However, the same outlet’s game simulator predicts a 1-1 draw.

The match will be the first of three in quick succession for Everton, which faces Union Espanola, Universidad de Chile and Cobresal in early November. Palestino’s next league fixture is against Coquimbo Unido on Nov. 8.
