NEWPORT, Wales (Interstat) — Newport County AFC and Gillingham played to a 2-2 draw in the Women’s FA Cup on Saturday at Rodney Parade after a dramatic late goal forced extra time.

Substitute Sebastian Houlden scored the equalizer for Newport in the 118th minute, canceling out a 109th-minute goal from Gillingham’s Cameron Antwi. Elliott Nevitt opened the scoring for Newport in the 14th minute before Gillingham defender Cameron Evans leveled the match in the 32nd.

The result defied a pregame projection from Interstat, which gave Newport a slight edge to win. Both teams recorded their first draw of the season across all competitions following the cup fixture.
