EXETER, England (Interstat) — Exeter City W defeated FC Halifax Town 2-0 on Saturday in a Women’s FA Cup match at The Shay Stadium. The result defied a pregame projection that favored the home side.

Substitute Danny Andrew opened the scoring for the visitors in the second minute. Jayden Wareham, also a substitute, added a second goal just before halftime off an assist from Pierce Sweeney. Ethan Brierley was also credited with an assist. Both Sweeney and Brierley received yellow cards in the second half.

The victory advances Exeter City W in the competition, improving their season record across all competitions to 3-0-0. FC Halifax Town was eliminated from the Women’s FA Cup.
