Shimizu S-Pulse vs Cerezo Ōsaka
TOKYO (Interstat) — Cerezo Osaka looks to build on a late-season surge when it visits Shimizu S-Pulse in a J1 League match on Sunday.
Cerezo Osaka (13-12-9) enters the contest at Shimizu’s IAI Stadium Nihondaira on a two-match winning streak, including a 2-0 victory over Kawasaki Frontale on Oct. 25. The visitors have won three of their last five league matches.
Shimizu S-Pulse (14-17-11) is also coming off a win, a 1-0 result against Tokyo Verdy on Oct. 25, but has struggled for consistency with just two wins in its last seven J1 League fixtures.
The previous meeting this season heavily favored Cerezo Osaka, which defeated Shimizu S-Pulse 4-2 on June 1.
In the league table, Cerezo Osaka holds a slight edge in points, while Shimizu has been prone to defensive lapses, including a 5-3 loss to Kawasaki Frontale on Oct. 18. A statistical projection from Interstat forecasts a 1-1 draw.
Following this match, Cerezo Osaka next plays at Yokohama F Marinos on Nov. 30. Shimizu S-Pulse will travel to face Shonan Bellmare on the same date.
