Independiente vs Platense
BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (Interstat) — Two struggling Argentine sides, Independiente and Platense, will seek a crucial victory when they meet Friday in a Primera Nacional fixture.
The match at Estadio Libertadores de América comes with both clubs mired in poor form. Independiente (3-5-5) sits in the bottom half of the table, while Platense (5-4-7) is only marginally better. Their struggles extend across all competitions, with Independiente at 6-14-6 overall and Platense at 7-14-8.
Recent history heavily favors the visitors. In their last meeting on Feb. 15, Platense delivered a commanding 3-0 victory over Independiente. Both teams, however, enter on losing streaks. Independiente is coming off a 1-0 loss to San Martín de San Juan, while Platense fell 1-0 to Rosario Central.
Despite the head-to-head result, statistical projections are divided. Interstat’s ELO system gives Independiente a 58% probability to win at home. Conversely, the same outlet’s game simulator predicts a high-scoring 3-3 draw, suggesting a wide-open contest is possible.
Independiente will look to break a scoring drought, having failed to find the net in its last two matches. Platense, which saw forwards Agustín Módica, Fabricio Oviedo and Santiago López substituted in its last outing, will aim to rediscover the attacking form it showed in its dominant February win.
