PERTH, Australia (Interstat) — Bailey Brandtman came off the bench to score the game’s only goal, lifting Cen Coast Mariners to a 1-0 victory over Perth Glory in an A-League match Friday at HBF Park. The 57th-minute winner, assisted by fellow substitute Alfie McCalmont, defied a pregame projection that favored a draw. The match was a physical affair, producing five yellow cards in a frantic 30-minute span surrounding the goal. With the result, Cen Coast Mariners begin their season with a win while Perth Glory starts with a loss.
