Saint Mirren Opens Season With Shutout Victory Over Aberdeen
PAISLEY, Scotland (Interstat) — Saint Mirren began its Scottish Premiership campaign with a 2-0 victory over Aberdeen on Saturday at The SMISA Stadium.
Forward Jonah Ayunga was instrumental, opening the scoring in the 40th minute and later assisting on a goal by Alexandros Gogić in the 83rd. The result defied a pregame projection from Interstat, which had simulated a 1-1 draw.
The home side controlled the match, handing Aberdeen a loss to start its league season. The physical contest featured four yellow cards, three issued to Saint Mirren substitutes. Saint Mirren’s defense held firm to secure the clean sheet.
