Motherwell Routs Saint Mirren in Season Opener Behind Four-Goal Second Half

PAISLEY, Scotland (Interstat) — Motherwell opened its Scottish Premiership campaign with a dominant 5-0 victory over Saint Mirren on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026, at The SMISA Stadium.

The visitors scored four times after halftime to secure the lopsided win. Eli Just opened the scoring in the 14th minute. Substitute Ibrahim Said doubled the lead early in the second half before Emmanuel Longelo and Eythor Bjørgolfsson netted to put the game out of reach. A late own goal by Saint Mirren’s Richard King, who was also sent off with a red card in the 52nd minute, completed the scoring.

The result defied a pregame projection for a 2-2 draw, handing Saint Mirren a defeat to start its league season.
