Falkirk Upsets Saint Mirren in Scottish Premiership Opener
PAISLEY, Scotland (Jan. 10, 2026) (Interstat) — Falkirk FC opened its Scottish Premiership season with a 2-0 road victory over Saint Mirren on Saturday at The SMISA Stadium. The result defied pre-match projections that heavily favored the hosts.
Second-half goals from substitutes Finn Yeats and Calvin Miller, scored in the 55th and 61st minutes, secured the win for the visitors. Yeats and Miller each scored once, with assists credited to Scott Bain, Miguel Freckleton and Dan Nlundulu.
The match featured three yellow cards, issued to Nlundulu, Freckleton and Bain. Falkirk begins its league campaign with a win, while Saint Mirren starts with a loss. Interstat’s pre-game simulator had projected a 1-1 draw, and its ELO rating gave Saint Mirren a 60.1% probability to win.
