Dundee United Topples Saint Mirren in Scottish Premiership Opener
DUNDEE, Scotland (Interstat) — Dundee United opened its Scottish Premiership campaign with a convincing 3-1 victory over Saint Mirren on Saturday at CalForth Construction Arena at Tannadice Park. The result defied a pregame projection that favored the visitors.
Dan Nlundulu opened the scoring for the hosts in the 18th minute, with Zac Sapsford doubling the lead just before halftime. After Saint Mirren’s Alexandros Gogić was sent off with a red card in the 83rd minute, Craig Sibbald sealed the win for Dundee United with a 90th-minute goal. Sibbald, who also recorded an assist, received a yellow card earlier in the match. Saint Mirren’s lone goal was scored by Amar Ahmed.
