DENDERLEEUW, Belgium (Interstat) — Substitute Ibe Hautekiet scored just one minute after entering the match to give Standard Liege a 1-0 victory over Dender in a Belgian First Division A game Saturday at DENDER Football Complex.

Hautekiet’s decisive finish, assisted by Mohamed Berte, came in the 61st minute and deflated the home side. The result defied a pregame projection from Interstat that favored Standard Liege to win by a larger margin.

The visitors’ defense, led by Luc De Fouguerolles who also recorded an assist, held firm despite five combined yellow cards being issued in a physical contest. Standard Liege begins its league campaign with a win, while Dender starts with a loss.
