STOCKHOLM (Interstat) — GAIS opened its Allsvenskan season with a 2-0 road victory over Brommapojkarna on Monday, defying pregame projections. Substitutes Rasmus Niklasson and Ibrahim Diabaté scored first-half goals seven minutes apart at Grimsta IP to secure the win. Niklasson opened the scoring in the 33rd minute before Diabaté doubled the lead in the 40th. The result was an upset, as statistical models heavily favored the home side. The loss marked a disappointing start to the campaign for Brommapojkarna.
