Marquense vs Comunicaciones
GUATEMALA CITY (Interstat) — Two Guatemalan clubs mired in difficult seasons will meet Saturday when Comunicaciones visits Marquense in a Liga Nacional fixture.
The matchup at Estadio Marquesa de la Ensenada pits two sides struggling for consistency. Comunicaciones (6-11-5) sits marginally higher in the table than Marquense (4-9-6), but both teams are well outside the playoff positions.
Comunicaciones enters the contest following a 2-1 midweek international friendly loss to New York City FC. Their recent league form has been poor, with just one win in their last five domestic matches. However, they have historically dominated this fixture, having routed Marquense 3-0 in both of their meetings this past August.
Marquense is looking to rebound from a 3-0 defeat to Cobán Imperial last Sunday. Their form has been mixed, highlighted by a 3-2 victory over Antigua GFC on Oct. 15 but also marked by a lack of goals in recent weeks.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, Comunicaciones is projected to continue its recent success against Marquense with a 2-1 victory. The visiting side will aim to leverage its psychological advantage, while Marquense seeks a crucial home result to spark a late-season turnaround.
Both teams return to league action on Nov. 1, with Comunicaciones hosting Achuapa and Marquense traveling to face Malacateco.
