Sturm Graz vs Wolfsberger

GRAZ, Austria (Interstat) — A pivotal Austrian Bundesliga matchup is set for Sunday as Sturm Graz hosts Wolfsberger with both clubs locked in a tie in the league standings.

The two sides enter the contest with identical league records of 6-2-2, making the three points at Liebenauer Stadium crucial for positioning in the table. Sturm Graz looks to rebound after a scoreless draw on the road against Austria Klagenfurt on Friday. Wolfsberger aims to bounce back from a 2-1 home defeat to SV Oberbank Ried on Oct. 18.

While their Bundesliga records are even, Sturm Graz holds a slight edge in form across all competitions, having lost just once in its last five matches. Wolfsberger has been inconsistent, with two wins, two draws and a loss in its last five outings.

The visitors will be tested by a Sturm Graz defense that has recorded clean sheets in two of its last three league games. Wolfsberger’s attack, however, proved potent in a 3-1 victory over Salzburg last month, demonstrating its capability against top competition.

According to the Interstat game simulator, Sturm Graz is projected to secure a 2-1 victory.

Following this contest, Sturm Graz faces a quick turnaround with a match at FC Flyeralarm Admira on Wednesday. Wolfsberger’s next Bundesliga fixture is at home against WSG Tirol on Nov. 2.
