DRAMMEN, Norway (Interstat) — Marcus Mehnert scored a goal and added an assist Sunday to lead Viking to a 2-1 victory over Stromsgodset in an Eliteserien match at Marienlyst Stadion. Mehnert opened the scoring in the 13th minute. Stromsgodset substitute Peter Christiansen equalized in the 38th, but Viking’s Herman Stengel netted the winner just before halftime. Viking begins its league campaign 1-0, while Stromsgodset starts 0-1. The result defied pregame projections that heavily favored Viking to win.
